Music

At Alberta Performing Arts Academy, our professionally trained musicians follow the acclaimed Hungarian Kodály methodology. This approach focuses on preparing specific music elements, making those elements conscious, assessing and evaluating competency and understanding, and reinforcing the elements. Our curriculum includes music from Musical Theatre, Art Music, and classical music, with the option of weekly singing instruction. This comprehensive pedagogically sequenced program aims to develop students into musically literate individuals, while also preparing them for potential future professional study. Within our curriculum, we prioritize incorporating play and fun into the learning process, understanding the importance of creating an engaging environment for children to thrive in.

Dance

Alberta Performing Arts Academy brings out each participants  enthusiasm, creativity, and pleasure  by offering an exceptional dance component to our curriculum taught by professional dance instructors.   The right brain, left brain, cross over that occurs in dancing heightens every child’s confidence, body awareness and delight  At Alberta Performing Arts Academy, we are dedicated to offering top-notch music, dance, and acting lessons for children and youth. Our curriculum is designed to foster holistic development in a supportive and engaging environment.

Acting

The core elements of acting are incorporated into every area of study: Talking Voice, Singing Voice, and communicating through drumming.     Dancing is expanded to movement, and how and what we say by how we move our bodies. We use a repertoire of games that equip children and youth with acting skills that will gradually develop into levels of competency as they continue to expand and practice various art forms. Our drama sessions encourage improvisation, storytelling, visual acuity, empathy, and analytical skill development as they invest themselves in the stories presented to them.  Children and youth will explore how stories can be told through musical instruments; through body movement, dance and script brought to stage opens up new and exciting ways of exploring the world around them. Skills and abilities that will support them throughout their entire lives.
